The Honorable Tashanna Golden currently serves as a Housing Court Judge, a position she has held since 2022. On the bench, Judge Golden is known for her thoughtful approach, deep knowledge of housing law, and commitment to ensuring that every litigant is treated with fairness, dignity, and respect.

 

Before her judicial appointment, Judge Golden spent eight years at Staten Island Legal Services, where she dedicated her career to serving the people of Staten Island. She began as a Staff Attorney representing tenants in nonpayment and holdover proceedings and litigating cases involving unsafe and hazardous housing conditions. Through this work, she gained extensive courtroom experience and a deep understanding of the legal challenges faced by everyday New Yorkers. She later rose to become Director of the Housing Unit, where she supervised attorneys and led litigation strategies to protect the rights of tenants and improve housing conditions across the borough.

 

Earlier in her legal career, Judge Golden gained significant experience in complex civil litigation in both the private and public sectors. She worked as an associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP handling complex securities litigation and regulatory matters, and at Windels Marx Lane & Mittendorf LLP focusing on commercial litigation. She also operated her own solo practice, where she managed a wide range of civil matters, giving her a broad understanding of the types of cases that come before Civil Court.

 

A proud Staten Island native, Judge Golden was born and raised in West Brighton. She attended P.S. 18, I.S. 27, and Susan E. Wagner High School. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University’s Staten Island campus, where she met her husband, Shaun, and later received her Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School.

 

Judge Golden now lives in the Travis section of Staten Island with her husband and their two daughters, Nadia and Alexis. With deep roots in the community and a career dedicated to justice, Judge Golden brings the experience, integrity, and commitment necessary to serve the people of Staten Island as a Civil Court Judge.
